Story

Merging two different creative approaches

Founded in 2008 by Silvia Dainese and Stefano Gris, Gris+Dainese Architetti stems from two stories that are complementary and keep interweaving to develop mindful designs. The creative approaches of Gris and Dainese are in tune with a minimal and artisanal kind of architecture; they are rooted in a wide range of projects, which span from large scale to temporary buildings, from exhibition design with public and private commission to planning for hotel and residential development, in Italy and abroad, with a recent focus on the alpine environment of the Dolomites.

How we work

Multidisciplinary Architecture:
Gris+Dainese between spaces and signs

Gris+Dainese's architects and designers collaborate in a former customs office in the Port of Venice, on the Giudecca Canal. The studio aims to design buildings that will age with, and into, the landscape – structures that seem to have always been there.

In recent years, the studio has specialized in alpine architecture, building structures articulated in a contemporary language and made from steel, concrete, and honeycomb polycarbonate, as well as recycled wood and period fixtures, all assembled with artisanal techniques with the help of local craftspeople.
